Abstract

This article explores the study of color in the Spanish language from a linguistic-cognitive perspective, with particular attention to its semantic dimension and psychological impact. Using the narrative Sucedió en colores by Liliana Bodoc (2011) as a case study, colors are analyzed not only as visual referents but also as lexical units bearing symbolic and emotional weight. The theoretical framework—based on cognitive semantics—examines how color is discursively constructed through both explicit and implicit linguistic resources, activating culturally shared conceptual frames. Thus, the study highlights the potential of language to articulate, in many cases, chromatic meaning without direct mention, revealing the symbolic capacity of color in the organization of experience and the production of meaning.
