Abstract

This study examines the evolution of inclusive language (IL) and its impact on Spanish, aiming to identify the linguistic strategies adopted across different periods in relation to the diversity of the Spanish-speaking society. The longitudinal methodology is based on the analysis of corpora from various time periods, encompassing academic texts, dictionaries, articles, literary works of different genres, as well as reports, manuals, and official IL guides. This approach allows for the examination of linguistic attitudes and awareness towards inclusivity over time through concrete evidence, providing valuable insight into the evolution of IL and its interaction with Spanish society.
The conclusion reached in this study is that the significant transformation of IL in Spanish reflects changes in social consciousness, oriented towards gender equality and the inclusion of a broader sector of society.
