Abstract

This article examines the literary narration of memory falsification, which is the subject of Abbas Khider's 2022 published novel The Memory Forger and plays a key role in the story. The aim of the article is to draw attention to its literary representation at the level of the what (the story and content level) and the how (the narrator level). Based on this aim, two closely related aspects will be examined: the memory contents, their media, spaces, places, metaphoric on one hand, and the narrative technique used during the narrative representation of these contents, on the other hand. In order to work out both aspects, the article employs Aleida Assmann's analysis of the spaces, media, and metaphors of memories as well as the narratological concept of Unreliable Narration.
