Abstract

The Norwegian playwright Ibsen is considered the most famous writer in the world, and his literary creations have a great influence on the world’s writers, especially on writers in European countries. In this research, I will discuss the impact of Ibsen’s plays on Chinese society and literature. The research mainly discusses new intellectual trends, new topics, and new characters. And the new artistic characteristics that Ibsen brought to Chinese drama and drama writers.
Researcher will also rely on the descriptive approach to discuss the influence of Ibsen's play A Doll's House on Cao Yu's dramatic creativity. I will also use the perspective of world literature to show how Cao Yu was influenced by Ibsen's theatrical characteristics, especially how Cao Yu's play "The Thunderstorm" was influenced by the dramatic elements of A Doll's House.
