Abstract

In this part, it is now shown that the reference to the Orient, in Italy, has never been broken off,
Apart from the fact that above all Genoa and even more Venice, were constantly present in the Orient and that long-distance trade flows between the Orient, Central Europe and the Hanseatic League converged in Italy. There are other historical events that support the plausibility of Italy as a link to the Orient and thus also as a mediator to Egypt. For example, the alliance of the Dukes of Naples around 835 with the Sicilian Arabs. This alliance lasted about 50 years. Naples became a starting point for the spread of Islam in Italy, but especially for the oriental influence in southern Italy. The oriental influence characterizes Italy''s north - south (- cultural border) to this day, this background must be taken into account when dealing with this part.
Cagliuso by Giovanni Battista Basile. Basile, complete: Giovan Battista or Giovanni Battista Basile (1575–1632) was an Italian writer. Basile comes from Giugliano in Campania, a town in the Naples metropolitan area in southern Italy.
